Is change of status from B-1 to B2 needed?

Hi,
today as I was filling out I-539 to extend my B-2 (visitor for pleasure) status I
realized that in my I-94 is written B-1 though I never asked for admission as B-1
(visitor for business). Now I'm pretty confused. I don't know how to fill out I-539 -
should I ask for change of status from B-1 to B-2 or just ask for extension (I have
B1/B2 visa stamp in my passport). Or should I even try to explain INS the whole
situation?
