Default Can't figure out what is needed for a US company worker to work in Canada!

Hi everybody, I will appreciate if you can answer my question
regarding working in Canada.

I am working on H1B visa in USA but my company wants to send me on a
temporary project of six month in Canada. I want to find out

1. What kind of work authorization will I need to work there?
2. What letter or form does the Canadian comapny needs to give my
current employer to start the project?
3. Can workers from US comapnies work without any permit etc in Canada?

thanks in advance for your help in this. I have searched the CIC
website for this but all the information on that is regarding a worker
independently applying for a work permit to work in Canada but this
case is different, because I want to work from the platform of my U.S.
company in Canada and cannot find any helpful info to aid my employer
in this.

So they left it up to you to find out this stuff? Don't they have a staff lawyer who's supposed to do this for you?

Don't know about the first 2 questions, but this is definiately a no!

Hi Ian,
Actually I would imagine that under NAFTA this should be pretty
straightforward for a US company's employee to work in Canada but I'm
surprised at your remarks!

can you please explain a bit why can this be a problem?

thanks for your reply.

You have to be either a US or Canadian citizen to make use of NAFTA.

Not to be rude by why don't you ask Canadian immigration/work visa questions in the Canadian immigration forum. I believe it is misc.canandian.immigration.

Your confusion stems from your original question? You asked "Can workers from US comapnies work without any permit etc in Canada" and then you ask about NAFTA. Well, NAFTA is that which gives you permission. So, if you have a TN Visa, then you're okay... the problem was, that isn't what you asked! You asked about work "without any permit"! So... don't be surprised! Oh, in order to use NAFTA, you must be a citizen of Canada, US, or Mexico.
