Default Can I travel to US for leisure with L1-blanket visa

Hello All,

I'm traveling to Florida for vacation next month and have a valid L1 blanket visa in an expired passport (visa in still in tact) and and I-94 white card valid through till June in it, which I use as entry for working purposes - should I enter with this since it is stamped till June, or should I just get an ESTA with my current passport?

Many thanks for all help
Bill

Are you still working for the L-1 sponsor? If you are, then you can use the L-1; if not, your visa is invalid even if the I-94 is not yet expired.

Thanks for reply.
I'm still working for company and will be traveling for work in US in May.
Just thought I had to use the visa for intended use, i.e. work, not for vacation.

If you're traveling for vacation you should be using the VWP, if you're eligible for it, and you imply that you are. If not eligible for the VWP you should obtain a B-2 visa. A person is allowed to hold multiple nonimmigrant visas, and should present the visa that is appropriate for the purpose of the visit.

The first question asked by a CBP agent, as you probably well know, is "What is the purpose of your visit?". I don't know what they'll do if you say "vacation" while they're looking at an L-1 visa, but I know what they should say. I suppose you could always misrepresent the purpose of your visit, but I always advise against making misrepresentations to obtain immigration benefits.

Regards, JEff

Thanks, I'll get a new ESTA. Just wanted to be safe/sure.
