Default British citizen and criminal record - DUI

I hope no-one minds me posting this but if I've searched for info then maybe someone else might too. You know I've been asking some really obscure questions and it's only been through your answers have I been encouraged to send an email to the Washington DOL office. I got a reply today as follows:

Washington State law, RCW 46.20.025 (2)(c), authorizes a "non-resident" to drive in Washington with a valid driver license issued by the driver's home country for up to one year.

However, if your out-of-country license has a restriction you must meet the requirement of any restriction on the license, to include an Ignition Interlock Device. Please verify this requirement with Washington law enforcement as well.

I hope this will be helpful.

Who on earth would have thought that the US has an Interlock system as well! Whilst this only applies to Washington state, it might encourage someone else to email their own destination and gives a little encouragement to those of us who had a really bad blond moment.

No replies necessary as this is for info only ... whilst I book my holiday! ...yippee..
