Bank Statement that is needed
I spoke to my bank and explained to them I needed a letter stating when I opened the account, the balance and the amount deposited over the last year. From what I understand this is the information that is needed in the K-1 process.
I received the letter from the bank and all it states is the date I opened the account, the current balance, and "any deposit information can be obtained from the account holder and their monthly statements".
My question is, can the bank not provide the deposit amount on the letter or is there specific wording I should present to the bank other than what I did ask for that would help them understand what I need?
This letter cost me $10.00 to obtain in the first place and I am concerned that it is worthless to me and need to start back at square one with them again.
Any help is appreciated

As for the bank letter itself, very few financial institutions will put down your annual deposits. You can substantiate it by showing your salary is a direct deposit or give them copies of your monthly statements.

Thank you Rete, one less worry for me today as my income far outweights the 125% mark I will give up on the bank at this point but have the letter and statements as a back up if ever needed.
Thanks again

Re: Bank Statement that is needed
I would like to point out the instructions from for I-134 VERBATIM....
"II. Supporting Evidence.
The sponsor must submit, in duplicate, evidence of income
and resources, as appropriate."
Then is lists employer, assets, real estate everything. NO WHERE ON THE
forms or the instructions does it say these items are either/or!!
Please STOP giving advise that is not correct! It is best to follow the
instructions VERBATIM.
Perhaps you confuse the I-864 with the I-134. The I-864 DOES say it is
either or, but the I-134 DOES NOT SAY THAT. It may be some consulates do not
require all of that, but that should only be under DIRECT ADVICE of that
particular consulate!
Unless you are an Immigration attorney or INS bigwig, stop giving erroneous
advice!

Re: Bank Statement that is needed
I'm not giving erroneous advice. I had the same belief you have and it was shown to me clearly that it is an either/or form. The key word is "As appropriate".
Thank you for your input.

Re: Bank Statement that is needed
Hi
Just went through this myself. Even though my income was over the 125% limit, I went ahead and filled in the rest of the lines. Figured it couldn't hurt. I made a list of major assets on a sheet of paper, then put that under assets on the form, put down the value of the house. Then took my checking account ledger, copied down all my deposits, listed the ending balance and a date the account was opened. I walked into the bank with this information and presented it to a bank official, explained the situation briefly. She looked it over, pulled up my account on the screen, then signed it with her Notary stamp. It cost nothing. Rita is more than likely correct in her assesment of the 134 form, I just decided to play it safe and fill in all the blanks. Good luck with your Visa.

Various K-1 Application questions
1. Does my foreign fiance need to take original certified copies of my
divorces with her to embassy there?
2. Is it the form I-134 or I-864 that needs to be sent to her for
affidavit of suport?
3. What other 'letters' besides each of our 'statement' of intents need
to be sent in with I-129F?
Answers sure will be appreciated.
Thanks, Steve

I would *definitely* provide her with original certified copies of any divorce decrees you have, as well as your birth certificate. The London Consulate website states, "All civil documents furnished [for the K-1 visa interview] must be issued by a public authority. Those originating from the United States must have been obtained from a State Vital Statistics Office or a city, county, or other local office."

- Cover letter listing the items included in your petition packet
- Letter describing the circumstances of your first meeting, etc. (This is usually an attachment to Question 19.)
Good luck!

This depends on the consulate

This depends on the consulate.
Generally, it is the I-134, but some consulates don't require an addidavit
of support form.
You should follow the directions from the US consulate in the country
handling the interview.

A statement indicating how you have met in person within the past 2 years

Re: Various K-1 Application questions
Are you saying that if K3 applicant she needs I-134 and K-1 needs I-864.
Strange, I've been hearing more of the opposite.
