Anabanana's "which visa?" questions

Re: Anabanana's "which visa?" questions
What are you still confused about? Did you see any visa types in there that you might qualify for? If you did, then you need to pursue them (as you are doing with Fidelity). If you did not, then there's nothing to really be confused about.

You have not mentioned yet your skill set and if it would qualify for a visa.

I'm beginning to see that when people on here mean they are 'confused' by the wiki what they actually mean is "I can't see a way to make the wiki work for me".
Basically they scan through it, can't find anything that fits and are 'confused' about what to do next.
To the OP: suck it up and get married.

I have indeed read it and whilst it may seem clear as mud to you, to those of us who havent done this before or do not know where to start its a daunting process.
I do want it to workout for me who wouldnt? I just want to be with someone who cares for me.. sorry @Caleyjag
I saw this:
You have a multinational employer who is willing to transfer you, but even then the employer has to make a good case for you.
Search for: L1 Visa, intra-company transfer.
You have a multinational employer who is willing to transfer you, and the company you work for has significant trade between your home country and the US. You also have specialist skills which are essential to the operation of the company. Your dependent spouse may work subject to approval. Search for:E1 Treaty trader. This category is designated for persons engaged in international trade between the U.S. and the aliens’ countries of nationality.
I have emailled Fidelity but would also like to know if anyone knows any other companies who are willing to sponsor Foreign Nationals. I work in Pensions and have other financial background in mortgages, car finance and insurance. @Boiler
It just seems so confusing and a hard process and that America do not want any more people emigrating there.
So it seems marriage is the only way?
Just one other question sorry for being so stupid. How long can someone stay on a visitor visa? Just so I know so I can see my boyfriend for some time.
Also if I win the lottery (i know this will never happen) are there visas rich people can buy?

I may have the wrong end of the stick, but it sounds like you have suffered some bereavements and are emotionally vulnerable at the moment. I think you should take time to weigh up what you want to do. Just visit for a vacation using the visa waiver programme.

I don't know if it's the ONLY way for you, but it's probably the easiest way.
Do you mean how long can a UKC stay in the USA on a visitor visa? If you manage to get a visitor visa, usually you are allowed to stay 6 months, but it's up to the officer at the POE. If you mean the VWP, it's 90 days, no extensions allowed. If you mean how long can a USC stay in the UK, that I'm not 100% sure of.
I believe there is a visa like that...some type of investment visa...it's in the Pulaski's way guide, I believe.

I am as pragmatic as the next cynic behind me but the woman has said she isn't interested in/doesn't want/won't entertain marriage.
Why isn't that good enough then? Take that option off the table just as you would if she didn't qualify for the DV Lottery (still don't know if she does or not). Based on what she's said, she doesn't qualify for the marriage based routes.
Marriage does still mean something special to most people and it's not *just* a way to move to the US. If that's been stated, no need to keep harping.

Your plan is not completely unreasonable, it simply will take some time, and knowledge that you don't have *yet*. I'm sure if you hang around and start reading about other people's experiences, you'll learn some things that will be helpful to you.
Good luck and happy studies.

I worked in Insurance, quite a few people I know got transferred but I can not think of any who came to the US, must have been one.
Usually you would be looking at a Managerial role rather than a technical role as the latter is so different. You said you had professional qualifications, any that work in the US. FCII/Chartered Insurer probably would not.
How about going back to school?

Re: Anabanana's "which visa?" questions
With respect, what you want is irrelevant. You can *only* do what the US government will allow you to do.
US immigration law is written specifically to keep non-US citizens *out* of the US unless they fit into one of the categories who can get a visa. If you can't find a visa to fit your situation, you will not be coming to the US as anything other than a visitor. It's that simple... and it doesn't matter how much you want it to happen. The US, quite simply, doesn't care (and doesn't need to care) about what you want or how much you want it.
I'm not deliberately trying to be mean... but that is the honest reality of the situation.

I dont know what you mean by nooky visa or trainwreck visa so I will ignore your comments as I am sure you are probably being nasty.
Ian MSTM I understand what is needed and I know its difficult and what I want means nothing to the US government. One silly girl is inconsequencle to them when they have a country to run. I understand that and appreciate your honesty.
Boiler - Thanks for the advice and I am looking at going back to school. If it takes 2 years or 10 years I am not giving up. I WILL do this.
