Advanced parole?
Can I file advanced parole for my wife if she is out of the country?
If not, then why on the I-131 does it have check boxes for..
"I am outside the US and applying for Advanced Parole"
and another one saying
"I am applying for advanced parole for another person who is outside the US"
I'm confused since I've been told by everybody that you can't apply for advanced
parole if you are out of the country..
Thanks!

Re: Advanced parole?
Because A/P or a Re-entry Permit is required for certain stays outside of the US by people who are refugees and/or PR leaving the US for more than one year. In many instances, A/P is not issued by mail but requires the recipient to pick it up at the INS office and is only given after photo identification is shown.

Re: Advanced parole?
You can apply for AP after leaving the US. However, by departing without it you have
abandoned your application for adjustment of status so have no basis for the
application. It's possible they could parole you anyway and allow you to resume the
adjustment of status but this is done on a case by case basis.
