Default 6 month visa

After I get my GC, my parents are wanting to visit with us for up to 6 months a year. What visa do they need to apply for, if at all possible. They are both retired.

Question Re: 6 month visa

Thanks Rene
I was wondering whilst I am waiting for my I-130 to go through processing, would I be able to apply for a B2 visa so that I may stay in the US for 6 months instead of only 3 months under the VWP?

You could apply, but I think your odds of being approved would be miniscule.

I agree with Tracy. You have clear immigrant intent with an I-130 in the works. Besides that, The whole process for an Immigrant Visa only takes around 8 to 10 months, and you have to be back in your home country for the last part of it (to receive your visa application forms, get your medical done, and attend the interview). My guess is that you won't have time to remain in the USA for 6 months anyway.
