Re: The 'Jen1977au' thread
Well, we've been here four months today, how mad is that?! And what an eventful 4 months it's been!
Not sure if you all remember but I left my ipod nano, DS Lite and 8 games on the plane when we moved here, DOH! Well I finally submitted my insurance claim with 'Go Walkabout', it took forever to get Simon's bank to give us a statement to prove purchase of ipod. Anyhoo, they processed the claim this week and have advised it's all aok so today I went out, counted my chickens before they hatched, and bought a DSi XL, a new nano and one game. Fingers crossed they give me the full amount, but I'm sure if they don't it'll be close to it! So nice to have 'my stuff' back again, it made me so angry that whoever came across it all wasn't good enough to return it, but hey ho, not everyone's honest eh!
So in conclusion, I'd highly recommend Go Walkabout...they've been really professional throughout and been very patient waiting for me to finally submit all of the paperwork!

I realise that he can do it earlier than others because of the forces angle, but do you have to wait the four years or do you piggyback on his?

The ADF member and their children under 18 - citizenship after 90 days service, spouses and children over 18 - 4 years, though if we can prove that we could do a Government job such as Customs or the like (which I'd love to get into) and the only thing holding us back is our lack of citizenship, then it may be able to be fast tracked to 2 years...that's still in the pipeline but it's being fought for at present, as far as I'm aware....

PS He passed, and in his text to me, he noted that he was the only white person waiting to sit the test....

Re: The 'Jen1977au' thread
Well, here we are, into the second week of the new term and I had JUST ABOUT HAD ENOUGH of the 'switching the mobile phone volume on at 6am and then lightly sleeping til about 9, in the hope that a school might ring' routine! I have done the relief work, the lastminute.com teacher thing and it simply isn't for me anymore.
Well, long story short I called in with another 12 schools last week, in total I think I've done nearly 50 since we got here. No work all of last week, then the phone rang on Friday when I was on my way to the airport to fly to Melbourne to see the OH whose on a course there for 5 weeks.
Anyhoo, I had two days booked this week, one of which I've already done, the other being tomorrow, then yesterday I received a call from a school who have a contract of at least 4 weeks, but it could end up being til the end of term (which is mid-Sept). I'd been recommended by the other school I did Music at for 3 weeks. I went in today and have agreed to take on the contract, which in short, is a Music teacher at a huge, 800+ pupils school, they know I'm not a Music specialist but know that I am musical, and have done quite a bit of music work during my ten years of teaching. I start Monday and am seeing through my day in the other school tomorrow, then the 2 days I had booked next week, and the full week after that, are going to be covered by someone else.
I'm a little overwhelmed by what's ahead as there are 5 choirs that they want me to work with, one of which, the senior choir, are going to a Spring event in September, but I've been assured I'll have lots of support so, fingers crossed!!!
So far, so good, had quite a bit of 'luck' contract wise since I began my teaching career at the end of May, then again I have personally visited close to 50 schools with my CV so that has obviously helped!!!
So...here's hoping the children in this school, are as lovely as those in the last I taught at!

Hi Jen,
I just wanted to say well done and I am sure this will lead to a permanent contract. I am still waiting for my teacher registration to come through. Bloody nightmare. Thanks for all the updates
