Sorry you are having a tough time just now.
If it is any consolation, it is very normal. Have some K & hope you feel better soon.

I was up & down like the proverbial yoyo in my first couple of months here. It gets easier but will get you unexpectedly from time to time. (Speaking from experience having lived abroad before!)

I am worried that I may be abnormal. I have not had one single homesick feeling and I fully expected to. Coming up for 2 years now and not a twinge.
Joking aside, it does concern me. Am I the only person on here that feels this way?
Hettie, I sympathise, hope it all works out

Emotions are unpredictable. I think the homesickness thing is because we spend more time actually thinking about relationships that are important to us here than we did in the UK.
For example, I could easily sit in a cafe in the UK and think very hard about how much I love my mum and I might get a bit tearful. Being here just magnifies those feelings. The thing to remember is that these people that we are thinking about still exist in that world and still are doing all of the things that we know they do daily. Its easy to almost get into the mindset that they are gone (as in deceased) because we are not seeing them. This might sound harsh but me being there with them would not probably make a huge difference to their daily lives or mine. We still go to work, clean the house, sort the kids out etc. And we still keep in touch. The relationships are just different, thats all. Nothing has stopped, it just happens in a different way.
