just remember there is only so much the agent can do in a depressed market. i gaurantee agents in the uk are better than the corrupt bastards here. recently viewed a million dollar plus property and the guy couldnt even tell what the rates were.

Re: First weeks in Cairns
Just an update for you:
Finally received the formal job offer (contract) in the post yesterday from CEC  Everything is just as the email said it would be, so hubby has to sign it with a witness and post it back. CEC have a rental property in Cairns Central for us ready for when we arrive, and they will pay it for us for the 1st four weeks  They have introduced us to a relocation advisor who works for their company who will help us sort schools, areas to live etc out. They seem to own a few rental properties and hopefully we can get a long term rental through them when we find the right area to settle in. Looks like we are aiming to fly on April 28th.....only 9 weeks and 6 days time!!!! Have to decide what furniture we should take or sell, then get some more shipping quotes in........then book the flights!!! I've been feeling a bit sick with nerves these last few days, especially worried about spiders out there!!!! Andrew can't wait to go, neither can the girls......I'm feeling a bit more apprehensive about the whole move though :( Anyway, that's about it for now......oh we have to sort an Oz bank out too, soooooooo much to think about!!!! Beth x x  |

Re: First weeks in Cairns
Thanks :)
Glad to hear things are going well for you.......hoping to be saying the same in a few weeks time!!!! Started shredding some paperwork that we don't really need to take to Oz, and have finally started sifting through years of the girls drawings  We bought a large plastic box each for them to put the best ones in and have to throw the rest. Also trying to put years of photos in albums now.......awful job as we start talking about holidays and fun times, which slows things down....LOL I'm sure we will get everything sorted over the next few weeks, we bloody have to really  Bought loads of those vacuum storage bags to slowly start packing towels, bedding, christening gown, etc......takes up less room too  Take care and enjoy every minute!!! Beth x x  Hiya beth..we have justhad the last quote in from the shipers and we are going with White and Co, think they are based in Liverpool. They not only came out £500 less than everyone else but they are also lomg established and we liked the guy who did the survey. Are you doing all your won packing then? Or are you just storing/getting rid of stuff. the shippers pack everything and give you a few boxes for those private items!! (ooooh err missis). It has worked out so well for you both..so pleased. And you have a rental. That is my biggest headache, may be able to sort one before getting there by tempting them with big deposit. You can open an Oz bank account with the likes of Westpac or ANZ from the U.K. I have just done mine over the phone and it took 10 mins. You can transfer money into it but not out. You then show ID on arrival in Cairns and they give youyour cards etc. You can even viw the account online. If you want more details PM me and I will give you my e mail/phone number beth. I am scared of spiders too..and will be on my own to sort them out when first there! You can delegate that job to your hubby! Lizx |

Trying to cook the girls food now as we all have to go to a concert tonight. Going to sort bank out this week.......not that we got any money to put it an account...LOL Shippers are going to hate me!!! Decided to get loads in to do quotes......and tell them about the others coming....;) They can pack the lot for me, paying enough money to whoever gets my custom!!! No 'private items'.......got rid of my pet rabbit ;) a few weeks ago!!! May keep the pink furry handcuffs though  My mother and step-father are having a mid-life crisis since my sister emigrated, and with us going soon. My step-dad had bought a stunning motorbike, passed his test for it and got a massive tattoo down his arm  My mum knocked my door wearing her leathers last week, my girls thought it was fab having grandparents turn up on a bright red motorbike. My hubby nearly fell over when he saw my mum though......I mean she's going to be 60 in a few months!!!! Beth x x  |
