Hope the boys were suitably scared.:thumbsup:

DD bought this bug home on Thursday night and has been really ill with it - high temps, cough etc. OH started with it yesterday and I started this morning. Happy half term eh? I feel like I can't breathe my chest is that full up. We have our Xrays in 3 days and I just phoned to ask if this was a problem and they said no. Fingers crossed it's ok.

11 weeks eeeek. Get the flights booked and then you can plan things.:thumbsup:

My girls had a nasty chest cold for their x-rays.......BUPA said to re-book them just in case it caused a problem. So we did for 2 weeks later
I couldn't breath the other day.......chest really hurt......sniffing, coughing, temperature etc.
Slowly getting better now
The boys are all bigger than me even though they are 11-12 years old....LOL:lol:

That's funny - we're having our xrays the same place as you did. They said it would be fine. Bloomin better be now - I'm not paying twice when they told me to carry on. Did you need 2 passport photos or just one? We have pinned one onto the form but the woman on the phone said bring one. I presume she meant the one on the form - or did she?

Thanks Beth - looks like we will have to take 2 each.. Honestly, I am sick to death of this faffing. We are paying them for a service, they could be more helpful. The Dr rang me up asking for all the letters from the Eye surgeon to our GP when DD had an op 2 years ago. I had already provided them. Oh, I didn't see them. (Sheaf of papers 2" thick ) I see everything is fine now, yes as I said on the form, oh, that's Ok then. They obviously hadn't bothered to read to the end of the form, saw the first mention of the op and immediately on the phone asking for info that was already there.

Sorry - rant over. I thought this paperwork nightmare would be over once the visa application was in.

Anyway, back to topic - Cairns is very nice. My distant rellies own a hotel there. See, you can't escape even up there.

Beth
Thats a shame you don't wear the rollers and iron..we are looking for house/dog sitter a few days a week!!!

I have all stuff for the meds before they even think about asking for it.. G.P has done me 2 letters with all Blood Pressure reading since january (all under the limit they ask for) and have all my blood tests, cholesterol and everthing as well as ECG 2 years ago..have to be prepared. Dopn't want anything to hold those meds being procesed up! Can't wait to leave work..I would never work for a government health authority again...so bloody unorganised...yesterday I got sent from doing domestic visits, to doing diabetes screening clinic to a normal clinic, all in an hour. wasn't happy. I had also forgotten how bitchy people could be about others in a large organisation!!..not me, I havn't had probs. looking forward to working in my own clinic where I have everything in place and no-one to bother me!!
I will be eagerly watching to see which box the doctor crosses at the end of the form!

Jen sisn't get first job she applied for..never mind..will be easier when she gets there hopefully.

Could be booking flights in a few weeks!! Sold £1000 worth of stuff on e Bay last week..thats 2 months rent!! 2 more to save up so we can give 3 months in advance.

Thanks..you won't believe what I have made on E bay over the last 3 years..but have spent most of it..if only!!

if my visa comes through by the end of this month and I can get the visa verification back from oz house quick I will try to book flights for 09th March..if I can get Cathay Pacific flights. Just e mailed Jestar and Virgin and they can't guarantee I wont be charged $150-200 dollars if I fly with emirates and have more than their 20kilo luggage allowance.....even thought hey know its one way and I have to fly with them from brisbane if I go with Emirates..tight gits.
Are you in cairns?

So you are hoping to be gone really soon, lucky you! What type of visa are you going for?

I wish I was in Cairns but we don't have a visa yet! On the final leg though so hopefully we'll know soon. We have a house to sell too though, which may delay things.

I think this is their main office / depot.
Could have satellite depots though.

Re: First weeks in Cairns

been warm for manchester..we were wandering around the city centre and it was 15 degrees! Even sat outside and had a glass of beer!

went for my meds..after waiting 45 mins and the doctor running late I finally got the blood pressure reading I wanted..after having to sit outside the office on my own with blood pressure monitor strapped to my arm..white coat syndrome (even though he was wearing a suit)! Eventually worked out o.k. he said I was very very nervous..think he though my heart was going to jump out of my chest! XRays were all fine....so £300 skinter and just have to wait now..apparently they won't get to Sydney until end of next week. i don't think i will be out there for that BBQ but shouldn't be too long after. Only downside of getting there nearer to the end of march will be that I ahve to work in Mackay for about 3 weeks with the boss (although he said we only need to be there 3 days a week)!! So not that bad.

Just have to hope they don't think I am too fat now! B.M.I 32 althought he doctor said I didn't look it and was well proportioned...whatever that meant!!!!
Lizx

Also got my certificate through to practice in Queensland so I better get visa now..
