My husband had a good job selling real estate and was working pretty much 7 days a week and then there was me! I felt isolated, missed my friends and family so much, we started arguing constantly, my husband doesn't have a big family so couldn't understand my problem. To cut a long story short my husband and I split up, I came back with my daughter in April and we settled back in to our old life and it was like we had never been away, it was great seeing my friends and family again, I got my old job back, daughter went to her old childminder, it was too easy!

Husband came back last month he didn't want to stay without us although he loved Brisbane and the Australian way of life, he was a completely different person over there. So now we are all back in UK and slowly getting our lives back together only problem is I have realised I have made a huge mistake and have been reflecting on Brisbane and realised I didn't give it enough time and I gave in too easy. My husband would go back tomorrow but do we make the upheaval again?? When I think of our lives in Brisbane, we had a lot more time together even though oh worked alot he was home early, now we are back to the rushed routine week in week out. I feel so stupid and it upsets me that I caused all this. Shall we or shall we not ... that is the question!?

i had somethign pretty similar happening to me, so kudo to you for posting on here, i got absolutely trashed on here when i posted, i knew from the off that i didnt like it, but i agreed to give it time ...

I have been here just over 2 years, and guess what ...

my opinion hasnt changed, i still dont like it, and would go home in an instant. I am only here, as my daughter was born here, and i am willing (obviously) to put my life on hold, and see her grow up. But when she is old enough i am going back home.

i hope it all works out for you, one way or another, and take heart, there are many people that have went through what you have.

best wishes.

Think there should be a separate sight for us intending ping pongers

Sometimes the need to come back the UK has to be done to get things out of your system so to speak,, it can only be postive for when you decide to return to OZ,makes you grateful.

Im just so grateful we have our visa`s

Yes quite a few have done it on very little money. Check out WholeWorldWindow's threads. Very inspirational stuff.

Hi ya moneypenny, how are you going???

We've been back in the Uk now for 17 months now, and we are seriously looking to coming back home. We had a tough time in Oz before, also nan passing away and other family problems etc whilst we were there, which add to the emotions.
We came home to the UK, but missing Oz & the Lifestle/friends very much. Hubby is going to college to learn Tiling, i've got a qualification in Manicure/pedicures & going to try to get as many qualification under our belt so we will get jobs this time!!!

Before we decided to apply for migration we discussed this worry about enjoying the place we move to, which is going to be Perth, although we both loved it when we were there, i wasn't 100%. Reading your threads confirms what we believe, if at first we don't like where we go, move onto another part of Oz before we decide enough is enough.

we were in brissy for 3.5 years, while we were there we loved it some days and hated it others, we kept thinking is it good enough to wanna stay away from loved ones in uk so we decided we would go back to uk, that was july, now 4 months later our tickets are booked to go back in Jan, gonna spend 1 last xmas with the family. We didnt realise when we were there how good we had it, and we now miss everything about it. Our daughters are 14 and 12 and in the 4 months we have been back we have seen how they are already changing. They had such good surroundings in oz and we brought them back to the "CHAV" enviroment here. No thankyou.
We dont regret coming back as it has give us the reality check we needed.

Great reading everyone's stories, hope you find happiness soon.
Nice to know that I am not the only one who keeps moving back and forth, (although now settled in Brisbane !)
I was wondering what the ping-pongers was all about!! and now I know.

Hi

My neighbours moved out to Jimboomba, Queensland about 5 years ago this December, they went to on holiday first to see friends, the moment they came back they were intent on moving out there, things went very quick for them and within ten months they had gone.....he loved it, the kids loved it, she hated it, i had 3-4 emails a week telling me how sad, fed up, homesick she was, couldn't get a job she liked etc etc, it took her two years to settle and now loves it I don't think you could drag her back for all the tea in China, she has had lots of visitors and we speak on the phone quite regularly, the kids joined lots of school after clubs etc, and that way she intigrated with neighbours etc much more quickly, only you can decide what to do, but after reading quite a few of the commnets people dont seem to give themselves long enough to settle. What ever you decide good luck

just wanted to post a quick update, we were ping pongers (as seen in earlier posts on this thread) but came back for good in Oct. We settled into our rental, were familiar with australia so nothing was major shock this time, knew how to get gas electric, phone internet etc, sooo much easier this time( had hire car waiting at airport)!!!!
Boys all settled into school, eldest son just completed his courses to get bar work( oh, yes, you have to take responsible sale of alcohol, gambling courses before you work in bars here) and has handed his resume around for work before going to uni.
Not trying to sound smug , just that we've tried to take on board all the ways we went wrong the first time so we can succeed this time. I've managed to ge a part time job in a shop and we're being careful with money coz we know it will take OH longer to get work but so far so good, feels like home- not perfect but now i don't think perfection exists and am happy to settle for being happy and enjoying what we've got.
good luck everyone with what you decide and i just hope you find happiness.

Hi Babs, thats all we ask for isnt it, `feeling settled`,, nowhere is perfect You realise this once you 1st emmigrate haha.

Like you stated, it must be easier 2nd time round as you are familiar with the system, how to get gas/elec etc,, its the little things that make it home!

Hope your hubby gets work soon... where you living in OZ?

That post makes me feel really positive about our return next year (after a ping pong back here 3 years ago after 4 years in Sydney) I was thinking it'd be so much quicker this time just knowing what to expect (and what you can't have so just stop dwelling on!!!)
Thanks BabsW and I am really happy you are all so settled so quickly, hopefully we will be too
