Re: Recommendations for getting a class 1 Licence
Hi all, so its been a while since i started this thread but we finally arrived in Calgary mid Jan.
I think for me its great but the wrong bloody time to come for my hubby to look for work.
As you all know he wants to get his class 1 and get into driving but now as we waited so long most of our savings disappeared so now he needs a job to save the money to do his class 1 licence.
Can anyone help recommend, keep an ear out as they say its who you know which will help. Hes fit strong has hard worker with his fork lift licence has even sat a course here to have a canadian one. Has experience in warehouse and stock control.
He is happy to do shop habd swamper anything night shift days etc.
Any advice would be great. Hes been sending out 10 resumes aday but with unemployment high its impossible. He has an open work permit
Thanks all

Hi, you got here at last, have a look on Kijiji Calgary.
The company that I am subbied to pay $16/hr for forkies but have seen jobs advertised for forkies/swampers $20+.
Which end of Calgary are you in ?
Get him to drive around Foothills Ind Est SE, knock on doors with resume.
Email's generally don't work.
Also, the Training school here in High River does an hourly rate and he could get through with relatively few hours.

Google Canada Cartage, Hill Bros, The Alliance Group (TAG), Fed Ex, Sysco.
Call in on them, all general haulage with warehousing, might be a start at one of them in the warehouse and maybe there's a chance that they'll put him through his test.
If I think of any more, let you know.
Matin Brower, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Lays Crisps, Saputo.
