Re: Are you a better driver than the average Yank?
Yeah I read that.....but I'm so confused. I was originally a driver from California and then moved to the UK and then moved to Oregon for a few months and now reside in Washington......have no idea where I am on that list.:D

75% Meh. questions "were taken from actual written DMV test across the country" 14. When you are merging onto the freeway, you should be driving: A. At or near the same speed as the traffic on the freeway B. 5 to 10 miles per hour slower than the traffic on the freeway C. The posted speed limit for traffic on the freeway The answer is A... so if everyone is speeding over the speed limit, the DMV is basically giving you permission and the okay to speed too? "But Officer, I was only following what was said and encouraged by the DMV by nature of their correct answer on the test..." |

Re: Are you a better driver than the average Yank?

|
Re: Are you a better driver than the average Yank?
Why isn't there an Everyday Driver test?? Tough questions like -
1. You are driving along a single lane road and a driver is following you too close (tailgating); you should A. Reduce your speed and switch on your indicator.... by raising your middle finger above shoulder height pretending to adjust your rear view mirror. B. Resort to the 2nd Amendment; roll down your window, waving your gun as an invitation to the driver to overtake you with an introductory "Hey Mofo..." C. Allow for the opportunity for the driver behind you to be courteous by providing a new car to you by slamming on your brakes. |

Got the one about indicator distance wrong, but at least I do indicate. I find it amazing how many people in LA drive very lowely base model cars like BMW's Merc's Infiniti's. At least I presume they must be very basic as they don't appear to have an indicator stick.:sneaky: |
Re: Are you a better driver than the average Yank?
100%, but I just sat my TX written test on Monday, so all of the stuff is still reasonably fresh in my mind.
The bit that worries me is the actual driving. It's over 20 years since I last drove a car and the idea of hurtling around in partial control of a big metal box on wheels seems like madness to my older, more risk averse self. |
Re: Are you a better driver than the average Yank?
No.
|
Re: Are you a better driver than the average Yank?
I got 90%, missed out because I didn't stop for the pedestrian or signaled 100 ft away from where I turned. Lucky if anyone around here signals. Though to be fair I am a crap driver.

Re: Are you a better driver than the average Yank?
75% But in my defence, I live in NC where people think the indicators are only there to make your car look pretty, and whose drivers brake at the last minute when they are turning .... so I must have picked up some bad habits

Re: Are you a better driver than the average Yank?

Re: Are you a better driver than the average Yank?

I signaled at 50ft instead of 100ft and I did something wrong at the steady yellow light. |
Re: Are you a better driver than the average Yank?

I train professional drivers, anything less than 100% would be an embarrassment to me. :o |
