Well finaly we had our trip to the embassy today, It all went really well. Arrived at 7.30 am for a 8 am appointment, there were already 15 - 20 people in front of us although fortunately only 1 for Immigrant Visa. 1st part of process went though quite quickly, Guy was very helpful and took copies of things we had forgotten to copy, i.e. bank statements. The only thing we wern't really expecting at this point was them needing a US address, which is quite a difficult one if you have not already rented somewhere. fortunatley for us we had signed up for a mail box and we were able to use that. Then back to the waiting room. We only waitied about 40 mins (the advantage of having such and early appontment). At the 2nd interveiw again the guy was great and just asked OH a couple of questions such as where did we meet? how long had we been married (was quite pleased OH can remember this
) he also asked us why had we now decided to move and asked OH to describe his Job here in the UK, this one took us by suprise. Anyway 5 mins later Visa approved and we were on our way. After a quick stop via the IRS office to check on my tax situation we were back home by 1pm which is pretty good seeing as we are 1 hr train journey outside London and we walked back to Victoria via a breakfast stop.
All in all a very successful day and much easier than you think its going to be. Now comes the hard graft, packing etc
Sorry to waffle on but I know posts like this certainly helped me when we started on this journey and hope this can help others. will post Timeline tomorrow.
oh and yes having told us its 3-5 working days to process visa we received a call at 3.30 pm telling us visa is on its way and will be here tomorrow ! speedy or what?
