McDonalds Canada has been slowly taking away market share for coffee only holding 5℅ of the market in 2009 and now pushing 15℅ of the market and growing still.

Tim's still holds largest market share but shrinking.

Now with McDonalds rolling out stand alone coffee shops called McCafes expect them to steal more market share.

They still do coffee give aways during the year to get people to try it as well as a buy 7 McCafe beverages get one free loyalty program.

With their new burger selections seems McDs is trying to go more casual dining and less fast food style.

Not very many I think. Those people seemed to be extremely accurate. Now maybe the occasional tourist could request to be hit by a fish while being video taped. It would make for a refreshing change from the normally boring holiday vids that most of us have been cornered into watching at one time or another

Some of our major food markets such as Vons and Albertsons have had Starbucks coffee shops inside their stores for years.

Starbucks have cornered the casino market in Vegas. The price of a regular cup is also a dollar higher than anywhere else

Safeway here (owned by a different company then Safeway in the US) generally has Starbucks inside, but I don't think any other chain does, at least not in my area.

Hospitals sometimes do as well.

At times this is correct. The Montreal in-laws cross into the US to purchase gas, buy groceries and shop for other items when the exchange rate is favorable. It has not been favorable (.73 US Dollars per 1 Cnd dollar) for well over 18 months.

Starbucks is called Starpuke in our little world. Give us Timmy's any day or even better DD's which isn't available down here.

Still deals to be had though especially on food.

Eggs 2 mins across the border 1.99/dozen US$ or 2.62 Canadian $. Cheapest on this side of the border $3.99 CAD a dozen.

Milk 2.99 USD or 3.93 CAD, this side 4.50 to 5.00 CAD.

Butter is still cheaper as is cheese.

Gas this side of the border 1.15/liter CAD on the US side 0.82/liter CAD which for us would be $10 savings for a full tank, but we have a small car with a small gas tank.

Granted we live close to the border, so wouldn't make sense for someone living further away but we still save money by buying certain things across the border.

I don't know why the word 'coffee' is ever used in relation to Starbucks. I don't know what it is they sell but it ain't coffee.

You even get free growth hormone in the US milk. I doubt you get that in Canadian milk.

Also US has milk factories

No added hormones here as far as I know.

The items we buy south of the border are labeled hormone free.

Dairy production on this side of the border has issues as well.

Poor old Starbucks known everywhere loved by few. The best coffee sold anywhere is at a little coffee shop in my town whose location shall remain a secret

I used to cross the border to Burlington Vermont. It was a nice little town, friendly people and nearby was lake Champlain. It even had a beach. I could fool myself that I was beside the ocean once more

Very cheap grades of coffee, roasted to death, and brewed really strong - so that people who don't know any better think they know coffee?

It is a pleasant town, and the beach & waterfront are great. It has quite a mild climate in the winter, being on the lake - we sometimes spend time there in January or February. (Milder than our corner of northern New York.)
