They still allow emotional support children on planes. Some of those children are very emotional.

My pet pieve is ESA dogs on cruise ships.
Damn Queen Mary Transatlantic had over 30 of the damn things.
Dogs everywhere, from the pool side to the resturants.
They really need to get a grip on the situation.

Genuine service dogs, yes... Mrs Rileys pet Chow, oh hell no.

****. That. Shit.

Christ, now I'm going to have to be ever haunted by the fact that on my next flight I might end up being stuck next to some entitled arse's stank-ass mutt. Blech.

You might get lucky and get the emotional support parrot. They can be quite entertaining, especially if you can get them to bite the other passengers and steal their stuff.

People who didn't want to pay for or couldn't get a kennel berth for the animal on board.

Only if it sits on the person's shoulder and insults passers by. Otherwise, what's the point?

Really, I don't want to be dealing with any animals on a flight. There's a reason I don't bring my cats on holiday with me

Might be more pleasant than getting a seat next to someobody that should have really bought two seats. I don't like touching!

US Gov't needs to close the loopholes when it comes to ESA, way too easy to claim it in the US.

Service animals and psychiatric service animals are in a totally different category though and are well trained.

Airlines could also help by reducing fees to travel with pets, the fees can be $100+ each way for a cabin pet or checked pet, and even more in the belly as cargo.

When fees get to a certain point people find ways to avoid them, same with checked bag fees and the excessive amount of carry on bags that has created.

Emotional Support is a form of psychiatric service.

Why do Americans need ES animals on flights? I've just Googled - not massively tbh - and it's definitely a US thing. Does it mean American airlines are more caring and supportive of their customers needs than the vast majority of other airlines? I have never seen a pet in a cabin and I'd hate it and can't imagine it's good for a pet but that's possibly just me so ymmv, no biggy.

Well the US has a Federal mandate that allows anybody, not just Americans, to take their support animals with them.
