I suspect it's like riding a bicycle. ..... Though if you've never driven a LHD manual it would take some getting used to. It took me about six months of driving 2-3 days a week to be as smooth driving a LHD manual as I was driving a RHD manual.

I found it pretty easy the last time I tried...though the first time, it was a loaner from the garage for a couple hours and they didn't tell me the second gear was shot

The Wally World checkout person, (tattoos, broken and missing teeth, education probably not a priority), didn't recognise a cucumber. I told them what it was...an English cucumber as it's called in their system. They still didn't get it.

Put it through as a zucchini. Half the price...

I don't think you'd forget it, you'd just be a bit ropey for the first hour or so. However, when I rent a car in the UK the problem I have is remembering to use my left hand to change gears instead of my right. So much so that I've actually bruised my hand whacking it into the door.

I am only minimally driving a manual myself. New car is automatic.

I've had that conversation in the UK, at Sainsbury's funnily enough, about ears of corn (on the cob), and about rhubarb in both the UK (Sainsbury's) and the US (east coast regional chain grocery).

scrubbedexpat099 is an unknown quantity at this point

Try asking for Swede....

Using the wrong hand is interesting initially when driving a manual.

My pronunciation of Croissant's seem to get comments.

I did it this year after 10 years driving automatic in US. 5 mins, and driving stick in UK came back. Also took it to Europe and driving on the other side was no issue.

Parsnips often require explanation around here.

I often catch myself saying aubergine and corgette in the supermarket and the check out person often looks at me strangely as I struggle to think of the conversion.

You could solve that problem by not buying them.

I don't mind courgettes, but then again I'll eat almost anything that purports to be food. I do recall hearing that aubergines have almost no nutritional content, they're also pretty tasteless.
