I'm wondering how you and other folks in Maine are doing? Seems the storm is more severe even than predicted, Cape Cod and up through ME.

There are high snowfall totals starting in CT near the RI border. Providence, Boston, Worcester, and the Cape--all these areas had totals around two feet or more. Shrewsbury MA got 33 inches!!

Nantucket got only a foot of snow, I heard, but the wind was so bad the whole island lost power. I think they had bad flooding too.....

I was looking at the NSTAR outage map, and there are still moderate to bad outages on the Cape, but Plymouth, MA looks to be the worst in their service area. (For those who don't know the area, Plymouth is on the coast, south of Boston, on the way to Cape Cod.)

It looks like the beach erosion and flooding is pretty bad up in Truro, and the ocean side of the Cape in general.

Yeah, from what I heard the storm went up the east coast just far offshore enough to spare the NYC metropolitan area, but then it veered back westward, looped hard around Cape Cod and roared back through Cape Cod Bay towards the mainland (& Boston) with a renewed vengeance....

3 foot of snow we got in that blizzard.

The in-laws in northern Maine, barely got 11" of snow. Bit of a damp squid up there after the hype and what they usually get.

When I brought mine home at 12 weeks we had snow on the ground and she immediately galloped out into it. Now, at four months, she's had the time of her life ploughing around in the deeper snow the last few days. I seem to be spending a lot of time drying wet dogs. But she is a very sassy puppy -- currently locked in a power struggle for alpha dog of the house with an ornery nine year old.

Ended up with about 2 feet of the white stuff but have drifts of 5 and 6 foot respectively either side of the house and the car was 3/4 covered, no power for a few hours and without cable or interweb services for 8 hours. Absolute worst part was our 2yo projectile vomiting Monday night, temperature at 101 for most of Tuesday and a stinky brown tsunami every half hour until 3 am this morning. Not a fun time!

Aww, puppies are the best for enjoying life! Everything's such a novelty to them, especially weather....

We had a dog, a fox terrier mix, who all her life just loved the snow! She'd run right out into it happily. If it was really deep, she'd start hopping like a rabbit through the snowdrifts....

One of my grown kids now has a young lab that goes a bit delirious when it's snowing. She jumps and twists with joy in an attempt to sniff the snowflakes as they float down around her.

High winds are a different thing, though. Most dogs I've ever dealt with don't like winds that are loud enough to make a scary noise....

The big noise that makes everyone jump around here -- including me! -- is when it is down in the teens and the wooden deck contracts from time to time with a massive bang. It's loud when you're inside the house, but if I'm out in the garden with the dogs when it cracks, we all absolutely levitate!

Not as bad here, but we got nearly 2 feet of snow, and it's drifted spectacularly. No power outages or flooding so an OK result. I'm completely sick of shovelling though.

Today is absolutely beautiful and the snow looks like you could swim through it.

Reminds me of our fox terrier girl who could hear faraway thunder before any of us. Suddenly she'd be crawling close & leaning against our feet--our very own storm detector!

Town was out carving the snow banks on the roads down this morning...also clearing some of the pavements.

Can't actually walk anywhere, even if half the pavements were cleared, because they didn't clear the cross walks to get onto the pavements, or there was a wall of snow at every utility pole or hydrant.

The carved wall of snow banks is supposedly planned to be scooped up later in the day for the down town and later in the week else where.

A lot of the dual lane roads are still about 1-1.5 lanes wide though.

One other thing, school was allowing drop off to be 30 mins earlier this morning, because they weren't allowing walkers, had to be a car drop off if you weren't on the bus.
