That is a lot. Normal cleaning/check ups only cost me $20.00. You're being ripped off.

I only pay $2.88 a week for dental, and since I don't have to pay at all for medical it's no big deal. I hardly go to the dentist anyway, hence the rather large hole in my tooth . . .

Just found out that mine is more than just a normal cleaning. It's called periodontal maintenance as I supposedly have weak gums. The cost can be as much as $250 if you are having it done in in NYC. My dentist charges $ 140. The rest of the charges were for the annual periodic evaluation and and 4 xrays, bitewing and films etc. So in another six months I will pay just the $ 140. I could shop around I guess but don't know if I really want to. The dentists office is just a few block from my house

Then yours is an actual procedure, and really $140.00 probably isn't too bad for that, given I'd pay about twice that for a filling.

I thought it was for your check n polish, which would probably only cost you about $20.00 as well.

Something is not right there, Sultan. If I were your wife, I would be on the phone immediately to talk with a supervisor about this the rejection of this claim. They might only need an explanation from the doctor as to the need for the scan in order to pay it.

Unless you have insurance, and $20 is the deductible, I doubt you could even sit in a dentist chair for that fee. I mean in the U.S.

Here, you can get a tooth perfectly filled for that.

Hmmmm I've never heard it explained that way before. It is customary that if the dentist is an accepting member of the dental plan, then they are to consider whatever the plans pays as payment in full.

SOS might need to find another dentist if he requires more dental work.

Scary isn't it So I guess it's why we pay through our noses for the insurance we have, that covers everything 100%. At least we can sleep at night Although one of hubby's workmates wasn't as lucky. He took a chance on not buying insurance that year, his 35 yo wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and he ended up mortaging his home to pay the bills for her surgery

Yep - she's on it as we speak. It is probably just an admin cock-up as you say but we shall have to wait and see.

I think it's up over $100.00 in total - the $20.00 is just the bit I pay.

I shouldn't think so - as long as my plan stays the same. I pay quite a bit less than the full cost, the plan picks up about 65% I think.

From that, it sounds like a strange approach to mental health, focussing mainly on trying to limit the access to guns for people exhibiting 'erratic behaviour'. What about actually treating and helping them?

Did anyone notice, Chartreuse's account is closed ... I was going to PM him about an un-related matter that may have been of interest to him.

A man's love of his guns ... I can't fathom it. The guy won't even consider moving to California because of them, even though he could probably have a great career there. Priorities !

That's a shame He's a cool guy. He has his opinions and isn't afraid of expressing them. I quite like that about him -- I hope he comes back!
