OK, isn't that Sicilian Avenue? I've eaten in one of the cafés in there, it was a bit greasy. I never knew there was a sixth form college there.

Providing that what you're after is expensive boutique foods, or snacks aimed at tourists, yes.

Borough Market was never a market that sold everything. Over the space of 15 years or so, it has evolved from a struggling wholesale vegetable market into what is now principally a tourist destination, with no wholesalers. I lived half a mile down the road for most of that transition. In my view, and that of many locals, the golden period for the market was about five to ten years ago, after the refurbishment, but before the huge crowds and high prices arrived.

Borough Market is still a lot of fun to visit, but it's changed a lot.

“We, my dear Crossman, are Greeks in this American empire. You will find the Americans much as the Greeks found the Romans—great big, vulgar, bustling people, more vigorous than we are and also more idle, with more unspoiled virtues but also more corrupt. We must run AFHQ as the Greek slaves ran the operations of the Emperor Claudius.” Harold Macmillan in a letter to Richard Crossman

So, we aren't being arrogant, it's our duty to distinguish their arse from their elbow, when in Rome?

Americans are under a lot of pressure to remain politically correct with race, religion, gender, sexual orientation etc etc. What we say about issues like this we say behind closed doors. This seems to be one of the biggest parting factors between Americans who are educated and savvy and stateside Brits. You function as though you just moved from London 20 miles outside and you give such little thought and respect to the people around you. You treat all of us like we're gun toting bible thumpers from Kentucky. The truth of the matter is-you're a bunch of *****. Steam has now been blown off I will go back to being charming and welcoming and acting like I don't notice you constantly making fun of our national holidays and sporting events. P.S. The Queen looks like a cross dressing man and your rugby players are all mentally retarded. Nice talking to ya!
American's PC?!
I would introduce you to me wife (American) just to prove you wrong but she'd just tell you to go **** yourself so there really wouldn't be any point.

As for rugby players, are you aware that most of them are actually rather well educated middle and upper class? No, thought not.

I'm assuming by travelled the world over that you mean you've watched the discovery channel a couple of times?
Oh and maybe you've actually got a passport...

Can I point out that "upper class" and "mentally retarded" are not mutually exclusive.

The attitude ranges from mocking our language, our spelling, our culture, to sticking up their nose at our food and feeling like they are clearly better than us. I feel like sharing with you Brits either living here or thinking of coming over: you're gaining a bad reputation over here.

You are now the obnoxious tourists who don't observe local cultural norms and behave in a way that is less and less welcome. Either take it down a notch or go home. Don't take advantage of the good America offers you and whine like a little bitch about everything that's different than home. I mean are you truly shocked this country is different than England? At what point did you realize life here would be different??? If you think England is better-go back. Otherwise show a little class.
Well, you lot must think your food is a bunch of shat, too, because you always smother it in sauce, before tossing it down your yappers.

Would you like some Baked Potato with your Sour Cream?

Would you like some Meat to go with your Bar-B-Q Sauce?

Would you like some Salad to go with your Shatload of Dressing?
