I am a bit reminded of my time in your London, by this thread. On a couple of occasions in a pub, while having a quiet pint at the bar, I'd over hear a couple of locals having a go at Scousers. I'd turn to them and say in my best Scouse accent "bunch of c%&T's them scousers aren't they?", now my aim was to be light hearted and jovial but on each occasion it was greeted with complete silence and an end to their conversation.
Not 100% sure of the connection to this thread, but its there some where. The UK, one country divided by about 6 common languages :D |

You do need to brush up on irony, however.

Irony is forbidden in the US? I don't remember anything about that in the oath business, but I'm sure you know best. It does seem to be in short supply, it's true.

When if he/she JUST said "can you give me a cut with more meat and less fat in a 2 inch by 6 inch slice??? Like this-(holding up iPhone pic)" The butcher would reply... "Sure! When do you want it by?" Done and done.

Ah, well, you see we are far too polite to imply that their bacon is deficient. We don't like to be rude you know. We are trying to fit in.

I am very attracted to areas that smell of fish, thus my interest in costal America. Fish is the symbol of Jesus. Something I have noted time and time again, is how American churches often smell fishy.

elle - it seems like you focus too much on the negatives. I agreed with your sentiment but you can't hold onto things like this. It will impede your judgment of new people you meet. Seems you have your mind made up to the point where you ignore one person who agreed with you and then decide to feed off the negatives.

Does that mean you are able to get decent bacon? If so, breakfast at your house.
Hang on for me. I'm coming over. You can't get decent bacon nor a proper sausage over here. Even the pies are a bit suss . |
