Default Weighted toys may help kids get fit during playtime

"Adding weights to children's toys may help them improve their fitness during playtime, the results of a small study suggest.

"This study provides one intervention to the current trend of declining fitness in America's youth," Dr. John C. Ozmun, of Indiana State University and his co-authors write.

This will not be "the answer to childhood obesity, but it could be a small part of the puzzle, making a positive contribution," Ozmun told Reuters Health. ..."

Anyone think that a bit silly or a good idea? And anyone with kids, how much PE do they get in schools in your neck of the woods?

Are we talking Toddlers Bench Pressing 150lb Bunnies? They could just lay off the Burgers until they're 18.

Fair point.

Wish the parents had an overdeveloped sense of responsibility to shut off the TV.

Sending them up chimneys is great for upper body strength - and it pays quite well too.

and when the day is done, it's back to the workhouse for a bowl of gruel.

Just use dusting cloths as kneepads when they crawl. Works a treat on the floorboards.

Introduce toys such as:

my first gym (containing treadmill, eliptical machine and rowing machine).

My Little Ponies (made of iron)

Toys that talk saying things like, "I'd like to go for a run. Wouldn't you?" and stuff like that.

Games for the home based on movement like those arcade games where you have to dance in time to the music.
