On the subject of putting a camera outside, I wired the front of my house to provide power at a strategic location, then gave up because the camera itself was too easily accessible from the outside and could be stolen ! Needs to be relatively weather safe, out of direct sunlight all day, itself not easily stolen, and within reach of power (or ethernet - PoE) ... at my house, matching all those factors became a chore.
