Re: Trainee Redneck
I've never had a dirty table at Waffle House, the waitresses always seem quite fastidious about wiping the tables, nor a ripped booth. I always get the country ham, which is a better approximation to back bacon than the belly fat masquerading as bacon in the US, and a couple of eggs, plus hash browns scattered, covered, and capped.

It's different - I have never eaten at IHOP and am not inspired to do so - it seems to be all about desserts for breakfast. Waffle house is more about protein - eggs, ham, steaks, burgers, with a side of hashbrowns or a waffle.

Then don't go to the Waffle House in Abington, VA or the one on Hardy Street in Hattiesburg, MS. I will never step foot in a Waffle House.

Other then AZ, I do not believe there are any Waffle House's on the west coast.
I've seen them in AZ but they always look so run down and less then appealing, but truckers seem to like them.
For breakfast I prefer Denny's over Ihop, Denny's seems to provide more food for your buck with better selection.

Should have watched today's showing of "What You Don't Know About Dixie" on the History Channel.
Informative, funny and a great watch.

Re: Trainee Redneck
All my mentions in this thread are based on comparisons to my Cali experience, and so far going very well......
Had a trip to the DDS (DMV) yesterday to swap my licence, I went to the downtown office, which in LA would have been torture.
Parking not good, but better than LA
Office appallingly busy, but took my ticket, waited maybe 10 minutes, up to desk, handed over Cali licence, green card, SSN, and 2 forms of address ID, quick eye test, coughed up $25, sorted.
I don't think I was in the office any longer than 30 mins. Very pleased indeed!!
Every DMV I went to in Cali (I tried a few) was a test of stamina, patience and an example of hopelessness............
