Parkers have outsourced a lot of their production I believe, so likely partially due to that I'd imagine. The sausage rolls for example come in a plastic packaging now, not the old butchers style paper wrapping and looks different. They tasted good, but the pastry was softer and not as flaky. Wonder if it has to do with combining the orders from different locations?

The box finally arrived at 11:20 this morning. Parkers had said anything over 42F would need to be thrown out, and that unfortunately was everything in the box. 15 pork pies, 4 Cornish pasties and 3lbs of sausages, nothing cooler than 47F and most 50F-53F.

I've left the choice to replace or reimburse to them, as it is their risk if they put another box on Fed Ex. They know if this was a rare occurrence, or if the changes Fed Ex made are causing more problems.

Without doing any more research would you recommend them or not?
Los Angeles.

Perhaps FedEx Road service doesn't travel on weekends or Sundays, so the packages would be stationary for something like 36-60 hours between Friday/Saturday and Monday.

Nothing wrong with the product Parkers sell, it is just trying to get it to the west coast. If the only way to get it here is by air, then I shall not be buying from them again as it would double the cost.

It used to be 4 day delivery from Buffalo NY to the west coast, so if it was sent on a Monday it was delivered Thursday. Even in the middle of summer the stuff got here OK. Now Fed Ex have changed something so send it Monday and it should be delivered Friday. In fact when the box left Monday tracking showed delivery for Friday. For some reason Fed Ex changed the delivery to Tuesday of the next week. Parkers say on their web site perishable food cannot be in transit over a weekend.

I'll follow up my own post to be fair to Parkers. They have opted to replace the items as they feel the problem was a rarity.

Yup, Friday, March 22nd, was not a good day. I didn't get any pie while waiting in the hospital for my daughter to have her mastectomy. Not having pie while I waited sucked big time.

I think they should produce a pie-chart showing times taken to deliver

If they made them with light crust pastry airfreight would be cheaper.

That being said it's quite easy to make your own sausage rolls.

I love pork pies, Melton Mowbray. Bit of Branston's.
Love, just love, the experience of going for a long drive back home, driving up to Skye or Inverness, flask of tea, some pies, maybe some caramel shortcake or a fruit slice. Stopping at some breathtaking view point to eat.

Very few experiences in the US, in 20 years, compare with that simple pleasure...and I've done a few...

Cheese and pickle sandwiches, a slice (chunk) of my mother's bread pudding and a thermos of tea drunk out of plastic mugs that may have been slightly melted at some point when brewing up with a driftwood fire on the beach.

The bread pudding was similar to this one and was also a sought after food stuff for scout night hikes and similar activities

And we're in the wrong one.
