I understand completely: It's an opinion that 2+2=4, and anyone who insists that it is is just pushing unwanted opinions onto others.

Re: Time for another gun thread
Obama hit the nail on the head when he said "At some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries". Of course, if nothing was done after something like Sandy Hook, then nothing is ever going to get done!
This sums up America's attitude to guns brilliantly. Quite a few naughty words, so not safe for work or anyone offended by a couple of F-bombs. |

edit: never mind, a quick Google seems to indicate some States tightened and more loosened their gun laws. |

If I was a sandwich I'd be ham, tomato and lettuce. |
Re: Time for another gun thread
I had to terminate employment with a contractor in work today, for various reasons. I gave him ample warnings on his performance; and his posturing and eye-balling was getting worse.
He's a "gun enthusiast" and has taken me and others into the woods to shoot. Has high powered rifles and hand guns. He knows where I live as I brought him here for lunch a while ago. If I was back in England I would have no concerns. I wouldn't say I'm worried, but......... there's nothing to stop him............... |

"this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency." First sentence is erroneous taken alone; the second sentence clarifies what he - rather awkwardly - was trying to convey. |
