Coyotes do the same around here, and they also take small dogs when the opportunity arises, including going right into fenced back yards to nab the dog. Had no idea coyotes could climb or jump a fence but they apparently can.

A lady this week had her small dog snatched right in front of her in her front yard when the dog needed to pee, the lady chased the coyote throwing rocks at it, and the coyote dropped the dog, it survived with serious injuries including 2 collapsed lungs, but is recovering at the vet.

Last year bob cats were attacking dogs in this area, but haven't heard of too many this year, and wolves have been known to grab dogs as well.

Lots of predators around these parts, not wise to keep dogs or cats outside.

People lose their chickens all the time too.

The coyotes though are brazen and have no issue grabbing a dog right from you.

The bears seem to leave pets alone, they seem to prefer trash.

Another reason to keep a shotgun. You never know if one of these might attack.

Isn't that a bit excessive for a python? They are constrictors, surely there's not the imminent danger with a python than there would be from a rattler, for example?

Maybe they are faster than I thought, I suppose. A python is probably an escaped pet - seems a bit much to kill it.

It's an invasive species. Unless it is too cold there for a python to survive winter, I would recommend dispatching it. Depending on the species it would become a danger for all manner of wildlife, cats, dogs, and even children.

Don't know. If you were running around outside in your under pants whose to know what it might latch onto.

If my missus kicks me out of bed early in the morning to check out a 15' long intruder in the backyard, hastening to add 'clad only in my tighty whities', I'm not going to be in any frame of mind to discern whether it's a kids blow up toy blowing in the breeze, a constrictor or a venomous nasty, I intend to avoid a ride in an ambulance.
Maybe a different outcome on a pleasant afternoon dressed in my best Walter Palmer outfit but there's no guarantees!

As long as it's not my cat or my children ...

I was only thinking along the lines of it being an escaped pet. It'd piss me off if some ****er shot my python, they can't be cheap.

I'd never run around outside in my underpants. I'd rather burn down with a house on fire than run the risk of even being outside without a shirt on.

Plus, a python isn't going to want my bollocks, no matter how hungry it may be.

Sounds like they waited a while, tried to call a snake expert. But I would not want a 15 foot snake in the yard, with pets never mind children.

Constrictors can be handled if you're quick. Easy enough to dump it in next door's yard and let it be their problem

I'd err....be happy for some volunteer to do the handling. But I'd want it further away than next door to think of it as someone elses problem.

I suppose you could get a spade, pick it up, throw it in your trunk and dump it in the woods to get it farther away. Personally I'd put it near where all the raccoons are and let it go to town, annoying little shits that they are.

He's a "gun enthusiast" and has taken me and others into the woods to shoot. Has high powered rifles and hand guns.
He knows where I live as I brought him here for lunch a while ago.

If I was back in England I would have no concerns.
I wouldn't say I'm worried, but......... there's nothing to stop him...............
Erm...like this?
