Default Texas

Another gun-related nightmare unfolding in Texas. Hope none of our members are in the area. Sounds as if it’s a bad one.

It's in a church I hear, so most BE'ers should be OK.

Ouch..but probably true.

I recall mom was a regular church attendee at the local church in Ealing, in the early-mid 90s. It was 95% empty most of the the time, and only 1/2 to 3/4 full on major religious holidays. I am agnostic so can't even recal the last time I set foot inside a church; must be late 90s or 2000.

Why would you go to a church? It's so much better to just watch it on TV these days, just like football games.

Church plays a big part in the social fabric of life, especially in poor rural areas. My heartfelt wishes to all those affected. Poor people.

Not just poor rural areas. Churches are the hub of most small towns in Texas. Whether you are part of the church family or not most of them will help anyone in need as has been shown during the recent hurricane disaster.

For such a small community this will be totally devastating. I am numb. Will this ever stop

Isn’t Texas one of these states where folk walk round with guns? I guess that shits on the argument that a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun. Still, **** all will be done about it. We all just have to go on about how we are all with the people of Texas whilst in reality not giving a shit about the people in Texas (or anyone else involved in previous mass shootings). Because, if we did care, we’d be doing all we could to make sure it doesn’t happen again!

No, it wasn't stopped. There's a pile of dead people. You can't stop because you can't predict.

He might have stopped further murders elsewhere, but that's not much of a balance for the over 17,000 gun deaths a year, is it

Please no more gun control debates, its only a smokescreen.

The IRA bombings and shootings in Britain in the 1970's were political, this is the same. Nobody wakes up on a Sunday morning and says "oh I'll just go out and shoot a couple of dozen people".

All mass shootings are political. Just like the Oklahoma City bombings, Nine Eleven, etc. It has nothing to do with gun ownership. The nasty political stage in Washington DC and elsewhere is moving into the streets. The political and wealthy elite have declared war on the American Middle Class, it's that simple. If you wanted to overthrow the Republic, how else would you do it?

You're in the midst of the Third American Civil War, and it won't end until the Pentagon gets involved.

Yes they do. And they will keep on doing it because they can. Because they live in a world where destroying lives means nothing. It's not politically motivated it is just pure evil.

There is no excuse. And don't tell me gun control wouldn't help. The gun obsession in the US is destroying the US.

The "right to bear arms" needs a codicil.....
