Very disappointed in Hawaii 5-0 although they kept the theme tune very similar to the original. Lone Star I enjoyed and will have to watch The Event when it's repeated on Saturday as I have no PVR.

Re: Tele
Lone Star....not exactly what I had in mind.
I'm indifferent to it, weren't shite, but weren't great either and if there weren't so many other cheesy shows on, I'd probably give it more of a run but right now, I don't think I'll bother. |
Re: Tele
Anyone else catch Raising Hope thought it was really good, characters seem interesting and it provided plenty of giggles. I think the new comedies the last couple of years have been excellent, looking forward to new The Middle and Modern Family tomorrow night:)
Thought Hawaii 5-0 was a bit pants, i'll give it another couple of weeks see if it improves. I've only ever seen the odd NCIS, but have recorded the new LA one. |

Re: Tele
How do I find (a) accurate listings of who's actually ON Good Morning America today (Wednesday) and (b) get to web-watch it after the fact? I believe our book's getting its airing & desperately want to be sure before tweeting all & sundry!

Re: Tele
Fringe
Back for a third series, anyone catch it? I couldn't be bothered as I didn't like how the second series went in the end, that and there's so much more else to explore. |

Sat on the DVR at the moment. Only got 4.1 million viewers last night so it may not be around at all.

Big rumours that it's either going to be canned or moved :( It was up against The Event though and while I didn't watch it (because I saw it was repeated later in the week) The Event did have an awful lot of advertising...and that's from someone who hardly watches TV so it must have been a lot.

Re: Tele
29. The 500+ television channels offer little more than commercials unless you want to ‘pay for view’. The commercials are designed to appeal only to the ultra-dumb, naïve and gullible and often have a guy with a beard (evidence of dependability/maturity/reliability) SHOUTING at you. On offer are:
1. pills that allow you to eat twice as much food and still lose weight 2. cosmetic surgery (for those wanting to look like Michael Jackson or the Joker out of Batman) 3. cosmetic dentistry (for those wanting to look like Austin Powers or Esther Rantzen) 4. exercise machines that transform hippopotami into Calvin Klein underwear models without even breaking a sweat 5. hair tonics that transform a bald head into something more like a peach 6. ‘natural male enhancement’ – as if unnatural or supernatural were also options …… BUT WAIT ! .. if you order right now you will get another one absolutely free AND… 30. If ‘BBC America’ isn’t already a contradiction in terms, it adds insult to injury by also having 4 minutes of commercials for every 6 minutes of real program (I just timed it). |
Re: Tele
17. I have just received the updated list of TV channels available from Comcast, my cable, internet and landline provider. I couldn’t be bothered to count them all but I guess there are over 500 channels including the most obscure (Russian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, Filipino). Frustratingly though, still no BBC channels beyond the so-called ‘BBC America’ with its 50% commercials. Every country I have visited, most not even English-speaking, offers BBC World and many offer BBC1 and BBC2. So why no ‘real’ BBC in USA? The reason is quite obvious and the rep. from Comcast so much as agreed with me. If Comcast offered ‘real’ BBC (albeit with a time shift), a commercial-free TV channel, world-renowned for being one of the best news, documentary, nature, soap, film and sports channels on the planet, nobody would watch anything else (apart from maybe one or two talk shows and live American sports). There would be uproar from the other 499 commercial channels, their sponsors, their owners and 1000’s of advertisers; the whole US TV system would collapse, companies would go bankrupt, there would be mass unemployment, Oprah would defect to BBC2, the very fabric of the commercial society would disintegrate, popcorn and snack sales would plummet and remote controls would evolve to have only one button. The USA would be a very different place.

I'm going to hold patience with that one (I agree w/you btw) because Bill Shatner can be hiLARious, and it does take a while to get a character going.
