I've got to say, HBO's Six Feet Under is the best tv show I've ever seen. It's just fantastic from start to finish. The ending of that show, well, don't get me started, I'll start welling up again!

The ending is unreal, isn't it? I know exactly what you're talking about. I've only seen it once but imagine that you would pick up on more each time you watched. You're right, fantastic show. We like Trublood currently on HBO.

That happened to me. I lent my Dexter season 1 DVDs to a friend. She hated it with a vengeance. Weird, because otherwise our taste in TV is pretty similar.

I've never watched Dexter. The concept really freaked me out and I thought it would be lots of gore. Would you recommend it?

I've not watched it either. The guy who plays Dexter was in Six Feet Under, so I'd probably like it.

Yeah, I'm going to watch it all again sometime soon I think. I need it in my life again :)

Hmmmm...I've haven't seen 6 Feet Under because I don't like funeral/death programs...but now you've got me interested.

I do like watching the whole series...much better than waiting for one episode a week IMO.

Could this be the second time in two days I'll have encouraged someone to watch it?!?!?! I hope so. I watched all 5 series in about 6 weeks, I much prefer doing that than watching over 5 years! Plus I felt genuinely like the characters meant something to me, I've not had that from any show before. Can you tell I liked it?!

You too can have my cast iron guarantee that it is a must watch show. (I sound like a cheesy salesman don't I? I should get commission from HBO for this!!!)

I loved it  yes there is a bit of gore but I did not find it creepy, because you end up liking Dexter.

That's interesting, maybe I'll give it a go?

For those who like Six Feet Under, True Blood (current series) was produced by Alan Ball as well. He also did the movie "American Beauty" which was pretty amazing.

Yes, there's a funeral every week, but it's because the family featured operates a funeral home. I wouldn't say that the funeral is the primary focus each week, though it may come into play some weeks more than others.

I would highly recommend it. In fact, I can't think of a single series that I would recommend more highly. Your assignment is to watch it and report back. :)

It's the only show my husband and I both watch. We're in between seasons right now so you have time to catch up. The characters are really, really good. Hang in there through the first episode or two if it doesn't grab you right away.

This needs to be everyones assignment.

Agreed about the funerals. Sometimes they are more focused on, depending on that particular funeral's relevance to the overall story.
