So even if they are materialistic at times we should just love our kids and be open to listen to them no matter what they have to tell us.

She is worried about keeping it together at the viewing, so am I.
How sad! It is very very sad when a young person passes regardless of how it happened or how well you knew them. Keep strong and encourage her to go with a friend or two to the viewing. I had a student pass last spring and the kids really supported each other during it all.

I'll try and get her to go. She has had two other friends die in the past year, one to cancer and another an accidental shooting, she did not want to go to either of them. I think in the end I'll just respect her choice, she has written a letter to the family.
