Spending Spree

After Mr Weeze's got cloned for the 3rd time he set up an auto account notification. It emails him whenever a transaction is made without the cardholder being present. I do NOT like this.

i have setup email/text alerts on my accounts. Doesn't stop it happening but atleast I have chance to catch it quickly. In the US people give their cards over to strangers too easily, especially in restaurants. In the UK this is less of the case.

oh dear god, what is it with Target and card security??
Took brand spanking new debit card with chip and pin to local target. Swiped as per usual then card reader cleverly realises that this card has a chip and tells me to insert the chip. Which I do. Then next thing I'm being asked to sign electronically. Cashier says thank you have a nice day and I realise that my "more secure" chip and pin debit card could have been used by anyone. I hadn't signed the back of the card, she didn't look for a signature anyway, didn't ask for any id and I wasn't prompted for a pin number. Good eh? You'd have thought they'd have learned.

Not all merchants do tap and pay, but many do now, granted its only up to $100 at any one time, but eh a crook can do many $100 purchases and never need the pin.

PLUS if the store does not use the chip/pin - then the bank can push all the fraud back to them.
