My wife is in the meadow with the neighbors. She’s really spooked. And, I think it’s still 40 minutes till totality there. Apparently a bit of cloud but mostly clear ..

Sky News (as viewed in UK) has dedicated the next few hours to the eclipse, a complete mix of stuff, it's a fun watch so far.

Wow. That got darker than I expected. Not completely black-out but all of the street lights and automatic outside lights came on and you could see the stars. I got out there right after the "total" eclipse but it was still pretty dark and, yes, some glasses magically appeared for me to use --- as it should be.

I believe it was because there were too many large fluffy white clouds in the area, reflecting sunlight into the eclipse shadow.
