Sky News (as viewed in UK) has dedicated the next few hours to the eclipse, a complete mix of stuff, it's a fun watch so far.

She just sent this, eclipse tailgate party ….

Wow. That got darker than I expected. Not completely black-out but all of the street lights and automatic outside lights came on and you could see the stars. I got out there right after the "total" eclipse but it was still pretty dark and, yes, some glasses magically appeared for me to use --- as it should be.

People in the south just used it as an excuse for a 3 day weekend.

Just watching the livestream from home. Totally amazing, completely dark. Students freaking out. You could see the corona.

Yeah, I'm hearing from people who were outside of the city (light pollution) and they said it went dark as night.

It was absolutely amazing! Saw the corona around the sun - probably will never see such a thing in my life time again (I am old)!!!!!

You/ they were lucky. I didn't get that experience at all in 2017, despite being near the center line of the shadow. It was quite the anticlimax.

I believe it was because there were too many large fluffy white clouds in the area, reflecting sunlight into the eclipse shadow.

2086 is apparently the next one in that area.

I definitely won't be around for that one!!!

Saw multiple eclipses on my television at home ! What was most impressive was a video from the ISS showing the moons shadow moving across the east coast, I don't think I've seen that before.
