European history and the genetic basis of human behavior are quite different subjects. It is an interesting subject and our violent society is hard to explain. As far as ancestral heritage we are a much more mixed bag than English.

So Germans are at the #1 spot in the ancestry top ten. This explains a lot about the US. In particular the rules and bureaucracy which as I attempt to grind away at completing the US tax return is currently an inflammatory topic.
But this does not explain why everyone I meet in the street is apparently of either Irish or Scottish descent. Even the bloke at the back 2 doors down who has painted his house in Mexican flag colours and has a lot of noisy parties involoving trumpets and guitars, claims his grandfather is a MacDonald.
