UK Passport renewal

UK Passport renewal
My UK passport is due for renewal which could take 4 weeks, problem is my mother in the UK is 95 and not in good health, i am afraid something may happen during renewal period, is there a quick method of renewal or a way to travel urgently if passport sent off to UK? Have looked on GOV.UK but hoping somebody may have experienced this position and have some good advice!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your mum. Elderly parents are such a worry when you live so far away, especially with Covid. Are you a USC?

I'm pretty sure there is no way to speed it up, all you can do is send it off for renewal, then if something happens and you need to travel before you get it back you can apply for an emergency travel document

I renewed recently and there wasn't an option to expedite unfortunately. That said, even with the constant "Covid is delaying our process etc etc" messages throughout the application, I received my new passport about 3 weeks after my renewal application.

I sent mine over with guaranteed USPS 2 days. It was $80-90 mind you. I got my passport back from the UK the following week.

When does it expire? Maybe go over now and do renewal from UK depending on how dire the situation.

I renewed late last year and was impressed with the quick turnaround. New U.K. passport arrived just under the four weeks.
If you See an option to sign up for DHL updates, do so .... I received the tracking details almost everyday therefore knew exactly when it was getting closer and signed for the package on my doorstep. ... It was a good quick service even if we were not allowed to expedite the process.
