Was there a big who-ha about this series in the UK?
MTV have produced an American version (that to me looks toned down compared to the UK version) and I've just watched a news article on TV where parents groups have complained to Congress calling the series, amongst other things, "child porn." I don't get it. We can show people getting blown up and shooting each other, but we can't show a bit of skin or even hint that teens are having sex. No ... instead we have to bury our heads in the sand and pretend that our kids couldn't possible doing things like this. It would seem to me that this series would encourage parents to talk about these issues with their teens. But then I am just a sensible parent who lives in the real world ..... what do I know?
(ok rant over .... as you were

I loved the UK series, you just know the US one won't be as good. I've seen a lot of outrage from people who haven't even see more than a preview. The UK one had sixth formers the US one has 15 -18 year old high school kids. Watch the UK one on Netflix or Youtube.

You people are sick little monkeys. It's disgusting that you have to watch exploitative F-I-L-T-H. You all need to get yourselves right with God. Go to Church and ask for forgiveness and have your sins washed away.

It made a bit of a fuss in the UK, not so much the content, but that it was written by teens.
It's the same script over here...this, along with Shameless, Being Human and a other other shows that got remade using the same scripts should be kicking up a fuss, for being crap.

I'll save a mod the trouble of taking down the Naomi and Emily pic I was so just about to post...

Puritanical America strikes again!
Skins (USA) is so real... because teenagers don't swear at all.
No, of course they don't.
It's a fake fuss because MTV need the ratings.
Don't criticise it because it's 'rude' television, criticise it because it's sh!t television

I thought it was about skins for cell phones and lap tops. How innocent am I.I've only seen a preview, doesn't look like something I'd be interested in watching, but I'm sure a lot of teens will love it.
I have a 22 and nearly 17 year old and I'm not naive enough to think that people their age aren't having sex smoking and doing drugs and swearing like a truck driver. I know I was doing some if not all of those things back in the 70's
But I have friends who would be horrified to think their teens would watch this let alone be doing some of those things, one I had to remind that she was pregnant an un married at 19 when she was going on at her daughter about not having sex when she was past 20

The UK version was really good, the MTV version has been toned down so much that I can't watch it. I don't understand how in the US they can show pretty much anything at any time of day and just tell parents not to let their kids watch it, but then when a show is on at 11pm they kick up a fuss about it.
