Once again, on coming back from a 17 day visit to family and friends in England I'm struck with a sadness that incapacitates me for days. Have been tearful, wanting to sleep all the time and have had to call off work for 2 days in a row. All I can think about is how much I miss it all.
Does anyone else suffer so badly when they've visited home? How do you cope?

I found that time helped. Or at least after a period of time I somehow was able to notice things that were better in the US than the UK.

Yes. This is how it used to affect me when I came back to the USA. Never wanted to step on the plane to return. When I got back to my home here, it took me months to adjust. In fact, I never adjusted; I just went through the motions - rather like an automaton.

I gave up the commute in February. We lasted 2.5 years - the jetlag nearly killed me. Now I am a stay at home mother - dull but insanely busy
