To people from countries with universal healthcare system (i.e. the rest of the Western world) this may seem like a perfectly legitimate question.

Anyone moving permanently to the UK would be covered by the NHS from day one.

Isn't it a little rude for non-USA citizens to come to the USA then
expect the people of the USA to pay for their health insurance?
It probably seems rude to USCs on first appearance.

But if they are coming from a country where the government provides the health care, and many more social programs, it is what they have been raised to expect.

So I (USC btw) have no problem with the question.

I haven't read the whole thread but if at least one of your parents could work full-time, then one or both may be able to get health insurance through employment.
