Putting a pool in...

Re: Putting a pool in...
I've wondered about that....folk always go on about how bad the mossies are in Texas, but nobody screens their pools, yet it seems the norm to screen in Florida. Is the mossie problem overstated in Tx? Is it that much worse in florida? Are texans too cheap? Or are floridians just a bunch of wimps?

I don't know about you Yorkie, but the mossies near us aren't that bad. Don't get me wrong there are some, but the neighborhood sprays and there just aren't that many of them around.

We back onto a lake, and are very close to the Bayou, but we don't have that much of a problem either - as you say, the neighbourhood sprays, plus we live in a windy corner, which I think helps. When we built the pool a few years back we also built a patio cover, and my wife wanted one end of it screened off. I thought it was a waste of money, but we did it anyway (where is the "whipped" smiley when you need it?), and sure enough, we have rarely needed it. We use it, but are just as comfortable outside 99% of the time.
