I used to buy tins of pumpkin in Waitrose and/or Sainsburys and make my own - from recollection there was a recipe for pie on the tin

Well we made our pie last Sunday. DH had some during the week and I only just tried it last night as I was dubious. I love it! DH says it's as good as the ones he's had back home. He wants us to make another one asap!

The Libby's canned pumpkin worked really well, we just added sugar, eggs, mixed spices and evaporated milk and used a ready bought sweet pastry case.

Interesting that you would say that. Just last night my sister and I were having the same conversation and we decided that Thanksgiving is the US tradition that we will be taking home as well.
