If we did have a Romney/Biden ticket perhaps that could be the jolt needed for serious reform.

Absolutely, the college vote is the system. People commented on Bush not wining a pop vote majority, but it was never said with conviction that it made him illegitimate in office, that was reserved for the Florida vote.

Or how often have the Libdems got about 20-30% of the vote and only a handful of seats?

A bit tricky (as in less likely) to get the popular vote when there's more than 2 parties involved...

Very true. However, there is a difference. The Prime Minister is not elected by the people, he or she emerges as a result of being able to command a majority in parliament. It is only in recent times that the British have attempted to emulate the US Presidential system, and regard a general election as an election for a Prime Minister.

Just back. Surprisingly busy given it's 10 in the morning here. Took me about 30 minutes in line, than another 15 to complete the 100 questions.

I looked at the wife's ballot, there seemed a dozen or so choices.

I get what you mean but it could be that one of the also rans could have an impact in CO.

I appreciate that but it has not stopped mandates been thrown around in that context.

It does seem in the US that if you win it once the you are pretty much guaranteed to be your Party's nomination for a second term. Which I do not like.

Ditto here, and only that slow because all the poll officials appeared to be over 90.
