The flight scheduled to leave 4 hours after us arrived in Boston before we did. As I say though... Fools and Horses and a curry (well, sort of) makes up for a lot.

I've started avoiding BA 747s lately as I've had too many delays due to elastic bands snapping and the like. As much as I regret this as the old birds won't be around forever, I can't recall the last time I had a shambles on a 777. And they're starting 787s on the BOS route in October, so looking forward to that.

Had a nice ride from Chicago to Atlanta, last week, on an American Eagle Embraer 175.

Pretty smooth flight, and all for just $194 inc taxes Round Trip, for Midday Flights.

So I hear that they have got a signal from the EgyptAir black boxes.

Plot twist, they haul them up from the sea floor and they have a sticker on them that says "MH370". No? Okay then...

I read that the human remains that they have been fishing out of the Med has been only small fragments, none larger that the palm of a hand. So the preliminary assumption appears to be an explosion, which has to be the worst possible news for the French.

I'm curious - how long does it take to stick a boat load of fuel on to a 747?

Is it mutliple tanks in parallel, or just the one hose etc?

At Heathrow and most other major airports, the fuel is piped directly in. There are then underground pipes that feed each stand. A vehicle is used to hook up the the underground system, and pump the fuel into the aircraft. Memory is getting a little hazy now, but I don't think a 45 minute operation to fuel a 747 would be unusual.
When I fuel aircraft using a truck, it's pumped in at about 40psi. Whether it's the same on the fuel bowsers that fuel the big commercial aircraft, I don't know.

Similar tech they do the F1 cars with?

I dunno mate. I suspect the F1 refueling rigs are a bit more high tech than my truck LOL. So last night I fueled my first 737. It took about 1400 gallons and was done in about 5 minutes, so that gives you an idea of the speed.

They (F1) used to pump at about 12 liters per sec or so.

McLaren would probably prefer to race in your truck this year.
