BA codeshare into Manchester, so you'd have to fly them into Heathrow if you wanted to be guaranteed a BA plane. It's the 747 and 777 out of O'Hare though. We flew the 777 in September, a very nice experience.

When flying Logan/Heathrow on BA, what type of plane should I be looking to try and get on? I've pretty much stuck to 747 in the past I believe. Anything better?

They may throw the 777 on that route as well; they rotate the 747 and 777 at O'Hare, for the two daily flights to Heathrow. When we were waiting for our flight on the 777, the 747 was sitting there at the gate for the earlier flight.

Everytime I have picked up a Tour Group, from England, at Logan, the BA Flight has always been a 747.

Virgin use an Airbus A340 on their flight.

It's been a while since I last flew through Logan but it was usually almost always 777s on that route, much nicer than 747s I feel. I agree with SultanOfSwing that you should avoid AA's nasty 767s into MAN like the plague. Aer Lingus's Airbuses are quite comfy IME but the default food/beverage offering nowadays is pretty poor - it's actually worth ordering the premium meals.

The BA 777 really was a joy to fly on. In flight entertainment was good and plentiful, there was a USB charging socket at every seat and I got a curry for tea

On BA it's a 777 on the morning flight east and the last flight of the day west, 747 for the rest. At least thats been the patten for every flight I got on that route this year.. From advertising I keep seeing I think Virgin now use a 787 BOS to LHR.

I really want to experisnce the 787, but until they start rotations out of ATL, I'll stick with Deltas 767-400ERs

There's no hurry, you likely have at least 30 years before it is taken out of service.

Interesting fact, I was the first person to marshal a 787 on Uk soil. My one and only claim to fame (which isn't that much of a claim to fame, or probably that interesting now I come to think of it).

Looking back, I ended up on a 777 coming back last year. All the rest have been 747. I didn't like the 777 much, not the plane or the onboard service (don't know why that should have been different, but it was).

You're the first person I have ever heard say they didn't like the 777. I wish BA would bring their 777s back to Charlotte, but I believe there is zero chance of that.

You couldn't keep it on the taxiways?

I saw a post on Flyertalk saying that economy in BA's 787s is pretty dire. Dunno about other airlines.
