Re: Pet Peeves?
The streets lights in my town. They go for about a 100 foot stretch, then switch to the other side of the street for a 100 odd foot before switching back again...so you either have to keep crossing the street, or walk in the dark.....great idea :/
How great how the handful of lights on some of the motorway around here just light up the air around the lights rather than the actual roads. How most of the motorway, especially the exits don't have any lights at all around where I am. People using steak knives as proper knives for everyday chopping and then wonder why they get munted :/ |
Re: Pet Peeves?
Idiot people that use the "speedy checkout - 20 items or less" and wait until the cashier has told them the total, before they start to hunt around every pocket for their cheque book. Just having to go the the rigmarole of writing a chequecompletely defeats the whole point of having a speedy line, let alone not being prepared in advance.
Stainless steel drinking cups with a lid, that are supposed to hold your drink safely, so that you can drink whilst in the car. If that lid doesn't actually screw on.. then it's not safe. A half full cup of hot coffee in the lap on the way to work, is not the way to find that out. People that don't know how to use their debit card, and have to get the cashier round from the other side of the desk, to show them. Why the hell can't we have four seasons down here? Summer, and Not -quite-so- hot, doesn't count. Northern Winter "residents". The roads, restaurants and shops are already full enough in the Summer, thank you very much. |

Re: Pet Peeves?
I had to help an old lady use her debit card at a gas station. For some reason she couldn't read the instructions that told her exactly what to do, and it wasn't anything to do with eyesight.

Wait until you do. If it's at the time when you have one item, and it keeps you there 5 extra minutes while they not only do it for them, but then have to explain all the steps, like a teacher.. you'll realise how bloody stupid it is.
Another thing just struck me - if I'm in a queue with a trolley and someone comes up behind me carrying two or three things, I always offer to let them go ahead of me. How come nobody does that to me when I have to buy a gallon of milk and I'm in a rush? |

I usually offer if I have a lot and the person behind has a couple of things. Of course it's backfired when they get a chequebook out too. |

Re: Pet Peeves?
My local Target has a few "5 items or less" checkouts. They have NEVER been open, not even at the busiest times. I have to wander through the strange double-stacked checkouts with everyone else and somehow always end up behind someone with 10 years supply of clothes.

Why do supermarkets have 19 checkouts, yet even at the busiest of times on the busiest day ever, they only ever have 5 open?
