Restaurant menu's...with the stupid names dishes and no descriptions. Tends to be fast food type places and especially at Chinese take outs....come on, give us a clue, you've got a massive menu of stuff and you probably only sell the 4 recognisable meals all the time.

Egg fried rice, or sweet and sour chicken, tend to mean the same thing whatever chinese you go into, Bob. ;)

USCIS forms that ask nonsensical questions and have associated instructions that are even more nonsensical.

My current favorite is from the I-90:

City of residence where you applied for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status
... so, obviously the want to know my "city of residence" (ie where I lived) at the time when I applied etc ... (although why they say "where" rather than "when" is puzzling)

... so - look at the instructions ...

List the location of the U.S. Embassy or consulate or USCIS office where you filed your application for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status.
WTF!!! How on earth can "the location of the U.S. Embassy ..." be the answer to a question that asks about my "city of residence"???

Do these people even speak English?

It's not asking for YOUR city of residence, it's asking for the embassy's city of residence. "City of residence where you applied" is just a stupidly confusing way of saying "Embassy's city of residence to which you applied". I'm guessing that the person who wrote it didn't have English as a first language and didn't realise that English speakers don't think of inanimate objects as residing.

Since the question on the form itself doesn't even mention the embassy in that question how could anyone possibly interpret the question in that way?

... and the very next question *does* ask for the "Consulate where immigrant visa or USCIS office where adjustment of status was granted" so wouldn't that just be asking the same question twice?
