This thing on cheques....our old insurance company, no fee paying by cheque but there was a $4 admin fee paying by DD.

Our town, excise tax is by cash or cheque, DD is done online through a third party, for a small convenience charge of $5.

School milk money, it's subsidised so only about $5, but if paid online there's a $4 service charge and that's also if you top up lunch card....so kidlette gets a cheque for it.

Bit annoying.

Or through AAA if you have membership.

I think I saw your DMV on "Parking Wars".

The one I go to is the Libertyville one. I haven't seen that show in a while so I can't remember if that was the one or not.

Are you attempting to scan yourself?

I would never try to do our full weekly shop with one.
You need your own personal checkout assistant. Mine never has problems, though the on-going maintenance costs are fairly high. Mrs P, on the other hand, has her own personal hex-aura that affects any self-scan she touches!

It's puzzling. I have a mental age of about 7 or so according to Mrs. N., and yet the machines still break.

My wife also has some sort of aura, it seems to cause shop assistants to be condescending, and that's like throwing petrol on the fire....light touch paper and run...

(My wife is an extremely busy professional and when she has an issue at a shop, for example, and they begin to tell her life would be so much easier, (for the assistant), if only she organized her life thus...)

Just had a look at my checkbook stubs. In almost exactly 5 years I've written 40 checks.
25 for a uk credit card balance, 10 for pest control guy I used to use, one to USCIS (N400), one to DHS (US passport) 2 to myself - different account/bank and one to my dad.

Might have to get a new checkbook soon only 10 left

I have to say, this British-English word 'cheque' looks so quaint I much prefer the easier 'check' myself ...

SO I have realized I don't actually know HOW to write an American check, even if I had one.

You write the dollars in words and then a fraction on the end?
