British Expats - Pet Peeves?

What is it with everywhere being closed on a Monday around here?

Gotta take the missus to Woo town in a couple weeks and it's a bit far to want to nip back home and then go back to get her if it's only a few hours like last time, and the art museum, armour museum, eco-tarium and anything else that might be fun to take the kids to for a few hours is closed.

What is it with giving girls boys' names? I know a Kyle and a Cameron, have recently met a Kieran and a Blair, (all women) and have been told Rory (my son's name) is a girls' name too! No wonder the men are being given ridiculous names like Hunter, Wolf, Clay and Brick....all the nice boys' names are being ruined by idiots.

The pedant in me doesn't like Cheri with no 'e'.

I thought the woman opposite me was called Sian, but it's actually Shawn.

Perhaps. Makes me think that the parents weren't happy with the gender of their offspring - or had some sort of irrational idea that it was "cool".

So what's with the soap holder in the shower always being right under the shower head, or to the side of it?

Means the soap just dies within a couple of weeks...put the stupid thing further away damn it.
