Paddys Day
So when do we start the annual complaints thread regarding plastic paddies?
Seattle Sounders first MLS game of the year on Saturday and they play in green. Me being the contrarian will be wearing the old blue away shirt. My daughter is already expecting to see green footprints on Saturday morning (it is what has happened at school the last two years) no doubt the missus will do something to placate her. Anyone doing anything, or avoiding doing anything? |
Re: Paddys Day
Green footprints? Haven't heard of that before.
My daughter has just informed me she wants a "St Paddy's Day kickback" on Saturday. |

Is that just a way of doing nothing on Saturday?

Re: Paddys Day
At some point I would hope Americans start to realize that an "Irish car bomb" shouldn't be a fun name for a drink.
I'll have a 9/11 on the rocks. |

That's what I was hoping, but I think it involves having people over.
I've been living in Chicago too long. |

My first thought was that it involved a cash payment.

Re: Paddys Day
I'm going to the pub to watch England vs Ireland in the rugby though I'd have done that whether they were playing Ireland or not.

Re: Paddys Day
I'll be hiding...and watching the rugby at home...before the in-laws arrive, I think...
People really should wear orange rather than green, but then the meaning would be lost. http://www.cracked.com/blog/8-insult...-patricks-day/ That's a good read :D |
Re: Paddys Day
I'll be bartending. I have worked in several Irish Pubs over the years and it's a day from hell in NYC! I work at a nice Italian place now. Basically we don't get a crazy crowd on Paddy's day . I just turn away the odd drunk and tell people the bathroom is for customers only. It's amateur idiot drinking day in New York

Re: Paddys Day
It's fantastic that it's on a Saturday this year - no f**kwits at work, asking me why I'm not dressed in green and presuming that, as Ireland is near England, I'll be celebrating. I don't have to go anywhere :).
On the downside, we can't even go out to a restaurant, because they'll all be green-themed and I'm likely to, at best, get rather pissed off. |
Re: Paddys Day
This year it's officially renamed "Grand Slam Day".
St Patrick was Welsh anyway... |
Re: Paddys Day
If anybody pinches me I'll stab them in the eye with a pen.
